This chapter of love story between Solomon and the Shulamite woman is symbolic of Christ’s relationship with His Church and is in two parts. The maturing relationship between Solomon and the Shulamite with its foundation rooted in love, and trust became associated with praises from one another. These love praises reveals deep truths about themselves and their marriage relationship. This love story educates us that couples should emphasize on strengths other than weaknesses because of the responsibility to make the marriage loving, caring, fruitful, beneficial and rewarding.

The first part describes Solomon’s intense praises on his wife the Shulamite in a very romantic way. It has a picture of Solomon and the Shulamite in a romantic state from the bottom to the top. It is a type of the bottom up management methodology to manage people and situations in organizations, institutions and government circles; policy areas – policy advocacy and initiation. The most important thing about Solomon is that all his praises revealed his non – comparable love for the Shulamite woman; heart expressions.

The second part is a reciprocation of the Shualmite to Somomon’s praises. She came to the realization that nothing could break their love and marital relationship. Confidently, she makes a declaration about their sense of belonging that has its basis in love; close to the agape kind of love between God in Christ and the Holy Spirit towards believing Christians and His Church. She takes advantage of the attention and favour on her and desires a prepared and cozy environment whether they could spend quality together and have deep and intense fellowship and intimacy as husband and wife in love. Β

It reveals that believing Christians as the Church have a divine responsibility to offer continual praises to God and His Son Jesus Christ. The fruit of our lips in praises must by daily to express our heartfelt gratitude of the works of God in our lives, ministries and the Church (HEBREWS 13:15). Yes we must give thanks always for we enter into His gates with thanksgiving (PSALMS 100). It means that it is righteous and acceptable to thank God for His righteous works in your life, ministry and the Church before you make your requests, petitions and destroy demonic activities.

We must take advantage of God’s love in Christ towards us and offer praises and thanks to Him all the time and in opportune times and places like the Church, Christian fellowships, evangelism as testimonies to reveal His eternal love for us. I tell you the truth that man or woman who worships God as a believing Christian filled and led by the Holy Spirit is in a position to acknowledge the works of the spouse and praise him/her accordingly. If you can praise God, you can praise your spouse. If you cannot to praise and thank God, you cannot praise and thank your spouse from your heart.

It is a message that praises and thanksgiving in love are reciprocal, beneficial, and rewarding. Therefore, let us purify ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit so that the Holy Spirit helps us to bring up the best in us in our Christian, marital and all human relationships. Holiness and performance of righteous works by the Holy Spirit is non – negotiable because it is about being beautiful, handsome and glorious in the sight of the Father and Son as believing Christians; the Church. Besides, we have better promises with God to be a Father to us His children if we walk in the light of His word and Spirit, and not corrupt ourselves with corruptible physical and spiritual things.

Truly, if the Shulamite looked beautiful to Solomon to deserve praises; if Solomon looked handsome to the Shulamite to deserve praises; it means that they worked on their physical and spiritual makeups. Praises of the heart are not sold on the market but they are earned in love and marital relationships and in hard work and accomplishmentsΒ (PSALMS 147, 148, 149, 150). SONG OF SOLOMON – CHAPTER 6

This chapter of love story between Solomon and the Shulamite woman symbolic of Christ’s relationship with His Church is in five main parts. It reveals a maturing relationship between Solomon and the Shulamite with its foundation rooted in love, and trust. This love story educates us that couples should emphasize on strengths other than weaknesses because of the responsibility to make the marriage loving, caring, fruitful, beneficial and rewarding.

The first part describes the interest of the daughters of Jerusalem to assist their mother, sister, counselor and mentor Mrs. Shulamite Solomon to find her missing husband who seemed to have traveled for a business venture unannounced. Whether she informed them or not, it is clear that they noticed her desperation and strong desire to find Solomon and decided to help. When things are not clear to you about the ways of God as a believing Christian even after prayers and reading and meditating on the bible, may God send Christian helpers whose words and provisions would encourage and edify you and not dampen and discourage your faith in Christ (SONG OF SOLOMON 6:1, LUKE 8:1 –3).

The second part shows the quick response of the Shulamite woman to the question and interest of the daughters of Jerusalem. She seemed to know the husband too well and mentioned that he had attended to taking care of his business with feeding the flock; sign of a booming economy. Besides, her confidence level in the marriage relationship was high because she trusted Solomon and she was quick to mention sense of mutual love and belonging to them (SONG OF SOLOMON 6:2 & 3). A sign of love bond and unbroken love earlier revealed in the consummation of marriage on their wedding night (SONG OF SOLOMON 4:16, 5:1). Maturity in marriage was evident in the expressions of the Shulamite woman especially about their bonded love and sense of belonging. This is what commands the blessing of God and serves as a good condition for answered prayers (1 PETER 3:7). It is a revelation of our relationship in Christ as the Church where nothing can separate us from the love of God (ROMANS 8:30 – 39).

The third part shows that beauty plays a vital role in love and marriage relationships and both Solomon and his wife the Shulamite used it to their advantage. Physical and inner beauty of the Shulamite made Solomon played to the gallery of the love game with excellent descriptions. He rated the Shulamite as number one wife and queen with no co – equal in the land of Israel and other nations. Solomon revealed that love and marriage relationships can be so beautiful and excellent to have the descriptions of the strength of the sun and moon, and visible as an army with banners (SONG OF SOLOMON 6:4 – 10). Its equivalent is the glory of the new covenant enjoyed by the Church (2 CORINTHIANS 3:7 – 11). All these glories of believing Christians (the Church) are as a result beholding the glory of the Lord daily in a mirror with transformations by the Holy Spirit. The more we look unto Christ, the more glorious we become and be like Him (2 CORINTHIANS 3:18).Β

The fourth part tells the visitation of the Shulamite woman to a familiar place to refresh herself in the absence of Solomon; the budding of the vine and blooming of the pomegranate tree in a poetic style. The beauty and freshness of the garden of nuts bears the same semblance of maturing plants and budding that was evidence of maturing love, romance and sex between her and Solomon; wife and husband. It was like going to a familiar place that reminded her of continuous love and passion for husband and king Solomon. This feeling of love and passion was so strong that she was completely overwhelmed in it as if Solomon was there with her (SONG OF SOLOMON 6:11 & 12). The garden of nuts is symbolic of our temporary placement on earth where we learn how to experience and appreciate the life and freshness of God. The glories of the Church on earth can overwhelm us such that we will be comfortable in the things we enjoy as was the situation of the Shulamite woman; the Church buildings, big congregations, cars, powerful choir, instruments, ushers. This is not our resting place. Do not be enraptured in the beauties and glories of this world because they have an expiry date known to God. And the love of the Father cannot be in us (1 JOHN 2:15 – 17). This is what I call the parallel of love. You either love God or the world.Β Β

The fifth part is a vivid description of the strong call of the daughters of Jerusalem to the Shulamite woman to return to Jerusalem and play her role of a wife, mother, sister and counselor (SONG OF SOLOMON 6:13). It reveals that relationships based on true love are like magnetic attractions that naturally occurs unlike feign and fake love. If the daughters of Jerusalem called for her return from the garden of nuts, then it means that her love was true, pure, beneficial, fulfilling and educative to them. If God calls the Church to return to holiness and righteousness and works by the Holy Spirit, then it means that there is complacency, misdirection and misplaced priorities. Don’t spend too much time with people and places other than your spouse and home.

It reveals that the garden of nuts is a comfortable place but not the best place for us as a Church. It is symbolic of the glories of the earth and the Church on earth. But the best placement and glories is to be in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ through His coming and transformation of human bodies to heavenly bodies (PHILIPPIANS 3:20 & 21). Therefore have the mind of Christ and be ready for Him, and not the mind of the world (JOHN 14:1 – 3).Β

The dance of the two camps is symbolic of love, joy, rejoicing and dancing in seeing your love again, answered prayers and testimonies of the works of God in your life, ministry and the Church. It has strong roots in Mahanaim where Jacob saw and met angels of God (GENESIS 32:1 & 2). Symbolically, it is a place of angels with blessings of God and God wants you to be blessed. Be in the mood of love, joy, praises and dancing for God is at work in Christ and the Holy Spirit and His holy angels, to fulfill His purposes in your life, ministry and the Church. SONG OF SOLOMON – CHAPTER 5

This chapter of love story between Solomon and the Shulamite woman symbolic of Christ’s relationship with His Church is in four main parts. The first part describes the consummation of marriage where Solomon as the beloved has had his sexual experience with the Shulamite woman in marriage and full of love and satisfaction. Truly, anything done, even sex, based on love results in satisfaction and is rewarding. It shows the strong intimacy level in a fused, bonded and everlasting relationship between our Lord Jesus Christ and the Church. Like the enjoyment of riches and honour even in labour, consider it the gift of God and not of your strength and human intelligence alone (ECCLESSIASTICS 5:19, EPHESIANS 5:22 – 33).Β Β Β

The second part describes the trouble evening of the Shulamite just after having wonderful moments in sexual ecstasy. It suggests the departure of Solomon to an unknown destination that made the Shulamite woman anxious and desperate and longed for him in bed. This was reported to the friends of her beloved Solomon in a passionate way that portrayed true and unbreakable love. It revealed a moment and possibility of reunion but reality of the situation at hand. It revealed memories of freshness of quality time with your lover, and experience of loneliness after departure that makes a lover seek for the partner first with familiar friends and later on the streets. It revealed a high risk taking venture and experience of feminine identity abuse; watchmen took away her veil and thus disrespected and dishonoured her. Her passion and desperation for Solomon revealed the call for the daughters of Jerusalem to tell Solomon aloud that she was lovesick for him.

It is a recall of Jesus’ teaching and promise that His disciples are to ask and receive, seek and find, knock and the door will be opened (MATTHEW 7:7 & 8). Whenever the Church is in a dilemma and at a decision making point, we are to call on the Lord in prayer and fasting and searching the scriptures; asking, seeking and knocking for answers and solutions. The Holy Spirit is our Helper in our Christian faith and work of the ministry in the Church. We need the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God in Christ. We need the spirit of understanding to know the hope of His calling and the power and riches of His glory, and exceeding greatness towards believing Christians as the Church (EPHESIANS 1:15 – 23).Β Β

The third part revealed the response and determination of the daughters of Jerusalem to find the secret about Solomon that made the Shulamite woman praised him above all other men. They wanted to know also why the strong charge by the Shulamite woman to find Solomon and tell him how she was lovesick for him. Believing Christians as the Church have the responsibility to praise and worship God and tell people their faith in Christ with the residence and work of the Holy Spirit in us unto life of righteousness, performance of righteous works and receipt of the gift of eternal life (JOHN 3:16 & 17). Truly, the world cannot reveal Christ to the world unlike the Church because we are believers with the Holy Spirit in us.

The fourth part reveals the Shulamite’s systematic and strategic top down descriptions of bodily parts of her beloved Solomon to the daughters of Jerusalem. It began with the sweet personality of Solomon before selecting attractive bodily parts; bright countenance. It involved descriptions of bodily parts from the head to the feet and then ended with the mouth with sweet words. Know that all our bodily parts can look lovely and romantic but it is the expression of words with our mouth that makes life and relationships in conversations and praises more beautiful, satisfying and rewarding.

She seemed to have answered the question of the daughters of Jerusalem about her beloved Solomon. He proved himself to be praised by the wife the Shulamite as being all round lovely, and the closest of friend. Like the Shulamite woman, Solomon was non – negotiable because he was praise worthy all round. So also it is believing Christians as the Church who can best describe the beauty and glory of the Father and His Son in our covenant relationship to people. Besides, our relationship must reach the level of friendship as a result of revealed kingdom secrets and trust and confidence and understanding God’s ways towards the Church. Believing Christians and Church leaders must enter into the realm of friendship like the disciples of Jesus when they won His trust and confidentiality (JOHN 15:14). SONG OF SOLOMON – CHAPTER 4

This chapter of love story between Solomon and the Shulamite woman symbolic of Christ’s relationship with His Church is in two main parts. The first part describes all the beautiful and lovely praises of Solomon to his lover and new bride the Shulamite. It involves praises about her physical beauty and bodily parts and as well as inner beauty that made her a lovely, courteous, respectful, romantic and sexy looking woman to Solomon. It revealed great observation by a lover who wanted all of her woman to himself.

If Solomon is symbolic of Jesus Christ and the Shulamite woman as the Church, then His love and commendation and praises for the Church are true as the purchased possession by His shed blood on the cross of Calvary. It shows that Christ wants all of the Church to Himself because our sense of belonging is of Him and we live and die unto the Lord (ROMANS 14:6 – 8).

The second part shows the response of the Shulamite as the wife of Solomon and great invitation to him for consummation of marriage in a fashionable way. It revealed confidence and boldness and satisfaction without any iota of fear because they were now husband and wife known by all; Solomon’s mother Bathsheba, royal family, Jerusalem women, skilled men who made his palanquin and entire security guards who protected them and foreign dignitaries as is usually the case.

Like the Shulamite woman, the Church should be confident and bold to avail herself for use by the Lord Jesus Christ because of the new covenant relationship with Him. We read

EPHESIANS 1:13 & 14 – In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, β€œwho is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

I like the commentary of the New King James Bible because it gives a better picture of our relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The seal or mark of ownership in believers’ lives is the Holy Spirit. The guarantee of our inheritance is the Holy Spirit Himself. Interestingly, the Greek word for guarantee can also be used to indicate an engagement ring. As Christ is the Bridegroom and the Church as the Bride, so the Holy Spirit is the down payment, earnest money, in the long awaited marriage of the two (REVELATIONS 19:7 & 8).

Purchased Possession refers to the Old Testament description of the nation of Israel as God’s special treasure; one that He had purchased by His mighty acts of deliverance during the Exodus (EXODUS 19:5, DEUTERONOMY 7:6). Here Paul describes the Christians as God’s own possession purchased by the blood of His own Son.Β Β

Therefore, we are the people to honour and praise God for His work of salvation through His Son Jesus and working of the Holy Spirit. Truly, the praises of a husband about the wife is more meaningful, exciting and true more than the praises of other people in regard to love and marriage relationship. Only believing Christians have the revelation to praise God for His work of salvation in Christ because the Holy Spirit is in us. If Christ calls us His own, then we belong to Him and should reciprocate with praises of love and adoration and performance of righteous works by the Holy Spirit. We are a royal priesthood, a holy nation and peculiar people, God’s own special people, who have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light to declare the praises of our God (1 PETER 2:9).Β  You have to read the details buddy.

SONG OF SOLOMON – CHAPTER 3

When two lovers are preparing for marriage, thoughts and feelings of passion fill their hearts and minds that cause restlessness for the time being. Such was the state of love and passion between Solomon and the Shulamite woman few days before their wedding. She was in deep sober reflection and in a pensive mood over the impending marriage. The thoughts and feelings were so strong that she fell into a dream state on her bed and dreamed about Solomon out of her sight and love. It was like a precious and pleasurableΒ thing had slipped out her hands (PSALMS 77:6). If believing Christians as the Church would love God and His Son Jesus Christ and be passionate by the Holy Spirit, we would enter into dreams and visions and revelations continuously; for the LORD loves the thoughts of the righteous (PSALMS 119:148, PHILIPPIANS 4:8 & 9). Truly, it is better to be in deep sober reflections that lead to the reading and meditation of God’s word than the attitude and works of the devil and his demons and enemies of righteousness (JOSHUA 1:8, PROVERBS 12:5, 1 TIMOTHY 4:15).Β

She took pro – active measures to change the negative situation. Her mission was to search for Solomon and bring him back to herself and marry at the planned day which was very near. This was to fulfill the vision of being together as lovers even after the marriage. The situation looked challenging with threats and opportunities in the environment especially in the night where movement of people were limited. Goals set: (1) To go and search for Solomon (2) To question people on the way (3) To question the watchmen of the city of Jerusalem that would lead her to the location of Solomon. (4) Ready to step out of her comfort zone and face and overcome fear of the night. You can’t be mission minded and be stagnant at the same place; for every mission is purpose driven (PSALM 77:6). We are to emulate the righteous example of Jesus to go and preach the gospel to new people as equal opportunities to know of God’s supreme revelation for belief and repentance and forgiveness of sins unto receipt of eternal life (MARK 1:38, LUKE 4:43).

As the love story unfolds, her pro – active measures worked effectively and she found Solomon just after questioning and walking past the watchmen of the city. Mission accomplished and she had Solomon back again in her arms and this fulfilled her strong desire to send him to the mother’s house; depicted recognition, acceptance and introduction to her family especially the mother. Believing Christians as the Church have the promise of seeking and finding God in honesty and diligence (DEUTERONOMY 4:29, JEREMIAH 29:13, MATTHEW 7:7 & 8).

The next scenario shows great observance of the Shulamite woman about an important personality coming from a distance and this was none other than her lover Solomon. The royalty, elegance and security of the approaching palanquin was a vivid reflection of nobles and skillful people who surrounded Solomon. The description of the royal palanquin shows treasurable material resources of gold, silver, and purple made by skillful people in Israel. Besides, the inside layout had beautiful symbols of love made not by skillful men of Israel but the Jerusalem women to portray support for their wedding just like the men of Israel. Just as the Shulamite woman recognized the royal palanquin and entourage of Solomon, so shall believing Christians as the Church recognize the return of our Lord Jesus Christ because the Holy Spirit is in us (2 CORINTHIANS 1:21 & 22, 2 TIMOTHY 2:19); and we shall be like Him when He is revealed and shall see Him as He is (1 JOHN 3:2).

It shows also that Solomon’s wedding of the Shulamite woman had the support of the mother, Bathsheba, in which she made a royal crown for him on his wedding day. This reveals a beautiful marriage union between Solomon and the Shulamite woman that had the support of the men and women of Jerusalem and family. Perfectly described as the gladness of Solomon’s heart; for every marriage day should make the couple joyful and happy for the fulfillment of dream, desire and passion (ECCLESIASTES 3:13, 5:19). Also believing Christians as theΒ  Church must rejoice over the accomplishment of righteous works in the Spirit like our Lord Jesus Christ over the works of His disciples for we honour and glorify the Father (LUKE 10:21 – 24).

This is a picture of the honour and glory, and rewards of believing Christians as the Church of Jesus Christ when He returns with His holy angels.Β  (REVELATIONS 19:11 – 16, 22:12 & 13). You cannot miss this great opportunity. Remain committed and faithful as a believing Christian.Β Β

SONG OF SOLOMON – CHAPTER 2

This chapter expresses love and passion in a consistent manner between Solomon and the Shulamite woman; a type of Christ’s love for His Church in a persuasive and convincing way. It reveals more communion and fellowship as a person thirsts and hunger for righteousness (MATTHEW 5:6). It is a revelation that righteous desires must be accompanied with righteous thoughts; for this stand is loved by God (PROVERBS 12:5a).

Christ is the rose of Sharon and lily of the valley that portrays beauty, fragrance, sweetness and glory with His Church. He is the bright morning Star that shines visibly all the time. His Excellency is compared to the rose of Sharon descriptive of Solomon towards the Shulamite woman, and proves it to the Church for our love, passion and trust to be made perfect in Him. Β

Just as the Shulamite woman praised Solomon in excellence and preferred him to other men, so also is Christ is preferred and proven to be first and worshipped by God’s angels (HEBREWS 1:4), and His pre – imminence is true and justified by all things created through Him and is the Head of the Church, death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and attainment of eternal life (COLOSSIANS 1:15 – 18). In this truth, you cannot but find love, joy, protection, peace and satisfaction in Christ just as the Shulamite found it in Solomon; sat down under his shade with great delight and his fruit was sweetness to her taste. Β

There are times and seasons where our love and passion reach a crescendo in marital relationships as the Shulamite woman revealed about her relationship with Solomon. The harsh winter season was over and the season of spring and summer had come for great activities of love, outdoor romance and love making. This is symbolic of the state of the Church where now Christ’s reign has allowed believing Christians to bounce back with love, passion, intimacy, commitment and performance of righteous works after the period of sin and bondage and ignorance.

Just as the Shulamite woman desired great fellowship and quality time with Solomon, the desire and longing of the Church must be to enjoy communion and eternal fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. God has prepared a banquet for His Church and is honouring us through His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Β Β

It teaches us that every relationship whether human or divine has little foxes as devils, witches and wizards, and enemies who make it their playground to destroy its plants and fruits. The good news is that stakeholders in every marriage union have the responsibility to identify those β€œlittle foxes” and put up strategies to provide, protect and preserve. Such is our relationship with God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit makes us overcomers in every challenging situation whether human or spiritual.

Desire and passion in love and marriage relationships deepen romance, care, fellowships, communication, provisions, protection, and preservation. Like the Shulamite woman who desired greatly the presence of her beloved Solomon to fill the vacuum in her life, so also must believing Christians as the Church desire to be with God and the Lord Jesus Christ forever. Therefore, Christ’s second coming is necessary, inevitable and fulfilling of all righteousness, and must be evident with life of love, prayer, holiness, righteousness, service, commitment and faithfulness to God by the Holy Spirit in our Christian faith. Amen!

β™₯β™« SONG OF SOLOMON – CHAPTER 1

The Song of Solomon places emphasis on the romance between king Solomon and the Shulamite woman of Shunem, small village in the region of Galilee near the foothills of the mountains of Lebanon. Solomon owned vineyards in the whole of Israel with one close to Baal Hamon where he met and fell in love with the Shulamite woman. His frequent visits to the vineyard at Baal Hamon and meeting and falling in love with the young and beautiful Shulamite woman began their love affair which culminated in deep and loving conversations, proposal, acceptance and marriage.

Chapter 1 teaches us that love has a beginning in every relationship as pertained between Solomon and the Shulamite woman. When a man sees a woman and falls in love with her, he declares his heart and pursues her in a very passionate manner till the woman responds positively to the man’s love proposal.

What was so special about the Shulamite woman that the king of Israel with many women around him could not take off his eyes from her? It is time to read the whole chapter as you trust the Holy Spirit to understand all the gospel truths and revelations. Yeah it has its spiritual significance in our relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. If God revealed to the Psalmist to kiss the Son or receive His anger and judgment, then know that your belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God is a blessing and never a curse. Check and reflect on the vertical and horizontal relationship as a believing Christian filled with the Holy Spirit and see whether you are pursuing your Christian faith in love and passion.

β™₯ THE EASTER MESSAGE

cross-of-jesus
cross-of-jesus

The Easter message reveals the wickedness of the devil but the love of God in His Son Jesus Christ. It reveals the master plan and wisdom of God beyond all human and satanic wisdom and expectations. On the part of the devil and enemies of Jesus, it marked the end of His ministry and influence in the lives of people. On the part of God, it was the fulfillment of His promise to save the world from the devil and sin and spiritual death. It marked forgiveness of sins on the cross and total redemption. Jesus overcame sin, death, the devil and his demons and resurrected from the dead to give us the gift of eternal life and life of righteousness in Him.

Jesus endured the sufferings of the cross in order to make eternal salvation complete. It involved physical and psychological torture as the perfect will of God for Him. It was the road and pathway to victory as the Son of God and Messiah. After resurrection, He showed Himself to His disciples because they believed in Him and not to people who did not believe in Him. He is the Life Giving Spirit and all who believe in Him as having died on the cross for their sins and resurrected from the dead receive forgiveness of sins, the promise of eternal life and become children of God.

The message of the cross was therefore entrusted to His disciples and now to all believing Christians to preach the gospel for the salvation of people in every nation, country, tribe and language. Hallelujah. We are to preach the gospel but through the gift and baptism of the Holy Spirit to do it Christ’s way and achieve His results, and destroy all the powers and influence of the devil. There are more gospel revelations and truths to read, understand and practice by the help of the Holy Spirit. Know that Easter is not about religiosity but about belief and practice of the Christian faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. Yes read the details buddy and believe always for the gift of eternal life and blessings. Amen!

THE EASTER MESSAGE
