β™₯ ADMINISTERING THE GIFT

2 Corinthians 9:1 – 5 shows the commendation of Apostle Paul about the Corinthians in their willingness to give like the Macedonians. Their readiness was evident in the believers at Achaia which stirred up other believers to make their financial contributions to the course of giving to the poor and needy in other Churches. On this premise, Apostle Paul did not leave any stone unturned and put measures in place to have a human resource team sent to the Corinthians for education and publicity purposes.

It had specific objectives of making the Corinthians believers understand giving willingly, freely and in generosity other than compulsion and grudgingly. This was the form in which Apostle Paul wanted the collections of monies as gifts received. He wanted them blessed and not just their monies as gifts. Besides, the other specific objective was to ensure readiness of the collections by the time Titus and his team arrived in Corinth. It revealed the urgency of the collections to serve the needs of fellow saints in other Churches. There is much to learn in the administration of the gift and therefore you have to read the details buddy.

The collection of offerings for the Judean believers was part of the bigger picture to promote excellence in giving among the Corinthians.

The human resource personnel involved were Titus, new brother and the brethren who were ministry partners of Apostle Paul.

It is a message that reveals the conflict between spirituality and human works without Christ in the centre of affairs and leading of the Holy Spirit. It reveals giving in love as a common denominator for the Church for a blessing. It reveals also a spiritual examination to prove one’s love and support for the Lord’s ministers and towards His work.

β™₯ CHRIST OUR PATTERN; SACRIFICIAL GIVING (2 CORINTHIANS 8:8 – 15)

The message of Apostle Paul to the Corinthians was that they were to be diligent in giving to pass the test of love for Christ and His Church. They were to emulate the righteous and perfect example of Christ in a sacrificial manner to enrich fellow believers spiritually through share of their blessings and resources.

He reminded the Corinthians that the implementation of the financial policy of the Church that began a year ago needed to be revamped and continued to complete the set financial objectives. Their willing mind and readiness to do it should be set in motion to give sacrificially from their own resources in a righteous manner and not in an unrighteous manner.

He revealed further that one of the Christian principles of giving is to ensure that the abundance of blessings absorbs the poverty, lacks and needs of fellow believers to create a physical balance and spiritual balance. Therefore, he expected them to supply the needs of each other for mutual benefits to promote love, fellowship and unity of the Christian faith. You have to read the details buddy.
